PASSION | EXPERIENCE | AUTHENTICITY

My name is Marta Faulkner,
I help transform potential into bold action

From a Warsaw University law graduate to a leader in IT

My career spans more than a quarter of a century of gaining experience in international technology organisations. I have followed a challenging career path – from specialist positions, through advisory, consultancy and audit roles, to managing multicultural teams and handling global IT solutions.

I know how large corporate structures work. I understand the challenges involved in managing people, the struggle to make one’s mark within an organisation, and the pressure to constantly prove one’s worth, particularly as a woman in a male-dominated environment.

My journey into coaching began in 2011 after I completed the ‘Art and Science of Coaching’ training programme, run under by the International Coach Federation (ICF). Since then, I have supported many people at various stages of their professional and personal development.

Diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 49 - My story, your strength

For most of my life, I’ve felt that I see and process the world a little differently from most of the people around me. I tried to conform to rigid expectations and patterns, often putting other people’s needs before my own. I was plagued by a strong fear of rejection (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria), which influenced my decisions, relationships and the way I functioned.

I often heard or sensed between the lines that I was ‘somehow different’ – sometimes too intense, sometimes too direct, sometimes simply not fitting certain expectations. At the same time, I’ve always been an open, energetic person who felt at home in the business world. Despite my abilities and commitment, there were times when I wasn’t chosen for roles where I could have added significant value. I felt that something set me apart, but for many years I didn’t know exactly what it was. I also didn’t understand many of my experiences – hypersensitivity to light, noise and sensory overload, or the fatigue resulting from constantly having to adapt. I grew up and developed my career at a time when ADHD in adults, particularly in women, was rarely diagnosed. This lack of knowledge meant that, rather than understanding myself better, I often tried even harder to fit in.

Being diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 49 was a turning point for me. Psychoeducation and gaining an understanding of how I function have allowed me to view my experiences differently, regain a sense of agency, set boundaries and start building a life that is more in tune with who I am.

Today, beeing over 50, I feel that I am finally making the most of my strengths. I am able to talk about my needs, and consciously choose and use what I had for years perceived as a difficulty as a source of strength. I am a coach and mentor, supporting people in their personal and professional development and in gaining a better understanding of how they function. I am developing my expertise in ADHD coaching, combining knowledge and coaching and mentoring tools with the empathy that stems from my own experiences. I work as a coach and mentor both in a professional setting and within pro bono mentoring programmes.

I know what it’s like to live with the feeling that you constantly have to adapt. I also know how much changes the moment we begin to understand ourselves and our needs. I believe that what seemed like chaos for years can become a source of strength, agency and authenticity.

How do my natural talents support your development?

My approach to work is directly reflected in the CliftonStrengths Gallup assessment.  Here are the strengths I will bring to our relationship:

ACTIVATOR

I turn knowledge into action

I don’t believe in theory for theory’s sake. My role is to help you take that first, most difficult step and draw up a clear plan that you can actually put into practice.

ARRANGER

I create a clear path to my goals

Everyone has different strengths, experiences and motivations. Forget about ready-made templates – together, we’ll design a path that’s perfectly tailored to you.

COMMUNICATION

I explain difficult things

My strength lies in translating complex business mechanisms and mental chaos into a clear, understandable and well-structured message.

DEVELOPER

Your progress is my reward

I firmly believe in your potential, even if you have doubts about it at the start of the process. I’ll support you with my full attention, helping you to recognise, identify and develop your unique skills.

INDIVIDUALISATION

I recognise your unique qualities

I don’t believe in universal solutions or a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. Everyone functions differently, which is why we work together to find approaches tailored to your needs, resources and lifestyle.
